Ogopogo Statue

The waterfront at Kerry Park features a green, sea-serpent sculpture rising from a concrete base. This structure represents the region's legendary aquatic cryptid, said to inhabit the deep waters of Okanagan Lake. The Ogopogo Statue offers a tangible nod to Syilx Indigenous oral traditions of n'ha-a-itk, the spirit of the lake, which later evolved into the modern monster myth.

Positioned along the boardwalk, the monument draws steady foot traffic year-round. Children often climb on the coiled tail, while adults stop to read the adjacent historical marker detailing the folklore. Since it sits in an open municipal green space, the site remains available at all hours for a quick photograph against the backdrop of the water.
