Okanagan Wine and Orchard Museum

The Laurel Packinghouse on Ellis Street stands as a physical record of the region's early economy. Built with bricks from a local brickyard, this heritage structure now houses the Okanagan Wine and Orchard Museum. Inside, the wooden floors still show the wear from decades of fruit packing operations.

Exhibits focus on the transition from vast apple and cherry orchards to the modern vineyard landscape. Displays feature early agricultural tools, sorting equipment, and historical photographs detailing how early farmers managed their crops. The collection tracks the timeline of the first commercial grape plantings and the subsequent growth of the valley's wine production.

Operating three days a week, the space provides a quiet look at the industry that shaped the local geography. The building itself remains a central piece of the narrative, showing exactly where tons of fruit were once boxed and shipped by rail.
