About Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art
Operating out of the Rotary Centre for the Arts, this non-profit, artist-run gallery focuses on non-traditional work that rarely finds space in commercial venues. Since its founding in 1989, the initiative has supported early-career creators who work in diverse media, from digital installations to sculpture.
Visitors can view rotating exhibitions across two main gallery rooms and a dedicated window display space. The Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art aims to foster critical dialogue about social and cultural issues, making it a key stop for those interested in the evolution of regional art.
The facility also operates a small gift shop featuring handmade items, prints, and publications from local makers. It remains open from Tuesday through Saturday, offering free access to the public.
