Scenic Canyon Regional Park

Mission Creek cuts a deep path through the eastern edge of the municipality, exposing centuries of geological history along its banks. The water flow has gradually carved out ravines, revealing unusual volcanic structures that draw geology enthusiasts.

At Scenic Canyon Regional Park, the main draw is Layer Cake Mountain. This large formation was created by successive lava flows cooling over time. Nearby, Pinnacle Rock stands as an isolated stone spire beside the trail system. The surrounding environment transitions quickly from damp, shaded cedar groves near the water to dry ponderosa pine stands on the upper ridges.
