Walk the quiet hiking paths and view local wildlife at this nature reserve in the North Okanagan.
About Swan Lake Nature Reserve & Trails
A short drive north from Kelowna into the North Okanagan, this protected marshland provides a critical habitat for migratory waterfowl. The Regional District manages a series of flat, gravel paths that guide walkers through the tall wetland grasses and along the water's edge.
Birdwatchers frequently visit Swan Lake Nature Reserve & Trails to spot red-winged blackbirds, herons, and various duck species from the wooden observation blinds. The gates open at 7:00 AM daily, giving early risers a quiet window to photograph the morning wildlife activity before the afternoon heat sets in. The site closes at 7:00 PM, ensuring the habitat remains undisturbed overnight.
