Spion Kop, Raven Ridge Trailhead
Start your hike at this Forest Hills Drive trailhead in Lake Country, which leads to scenic mountain vistas.
About Spion Kop, Raven Ridge Trailhead
The Forest Hills Drive access point drops hikers directly into the lower forested sections of this prominent Lake Country mountain. From the gravel parking area, dirt paths immediately begin their upward trajectory through stands of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir. This specific route bypasses the main Pelmewash Parkway staging area, offering a more direct line up the southern flank.
Navigating the Spion Kop, Raven Ridge Trailhead requires sturdy footwear due to loose rock and steep grades on the upper sections. As the tree cover thins near the summit, the sightlines open up to reveal Wood Lake and the surrounding orchards. Spring brings bright yellow arrowleaf balsamroot to the hillsides, while autumn highlights the changing colours of the valley below.
The path connects to a larger network of marked routes maintained by local volunteers. Hikers can complete a short out-and-back trip or link several paths together for a longer loop before returning to the residential neighbourhood boundary.
