About Cougar Canyon Trailhead

Just a short drive from Kelowna, the North Okanagan landscape shifts into steep rock faces and forested pathways. The Cougar Canyon Trailhead marks the starting point for a network of dirt routes heavily used by hikers and sport climbers. The terrain here is notably rugged, requiring sturdy footwear and careful navigation across uneven ground.

Rock climbers frequent the area to scale the vertical granite walls, while hikers follow the paths to gain elevation over the surrounding valley. Local flora includes ponderosa pines and native shrubs, providing shade along the lower sections of the route.

Because the site functions as an ecological reserve, hikers must stay on marked paths to protect the fragile environment. Parking is limited at the entrance, making early morning arrivals advisable during the busy summer months.
